Plan modes
When you open a plan, three working modes are available. Switch between them by tapping the pill-shaped buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Read-only
Section titled “Read-only”Icon: eye
Read-only mode lets you browse a plan and its annotations without accidentally creating new ones. Use it to:
- Review observations already made.
- Show the plan to a client or colleague without changing the data.
- Browse photos and comments on existing annotations.
In read-only mode, tapping the plan does not create an annotation. You can zoom, pan and open existing annotations.

Visit mode is the primary working mode on site. It lets you create new annotations by photographing them directly:
- Tap the plan where you see something to document.
- A marker appears. Drag your finger to orient the direction arrow (it shows where the photo was taken from).
- The camera opens automatically to take a photo.
Catch-up
Section titled “Catch-up”Icon: clock with arrow
Catch-up mode works like visit mode, but instead of opening the camera, it opens your photo library. Use it when:
- You took photos during a visit without attaching them to a plan.
- You’re documenting a site after the fact, matching existing photos to the right locations on the plan.
- Tap the plan where you see something to document.
- Drag to orient the direction arrow.
- The photo library opens to select an existing image.
