Plans

Plans are the reference documents on which you place your annotations. They can be architectural drawings, floor plans, site plans or any reference image.

From within a project, the sidebar shows all imported plans with:

  • A thumbnail of the plan.
  • The plan name.
  • The annotation count and photo count.

Tap a plan to open it in the viewer, where you can zoom, place annotations and browse existing observations.

  • PDF — The recommended format. PhotoReport is specifically optimized to work with very high-definition PDF plans while staying smooth and responsive, even with large files. No need to compress your files before importing.
  • Images (JPEG, PNG) — You can also use a photo as a plan.

Tap the plan name to rename it. Choose a clear name, for example “Ground floor”, “Floor 1” or “Roof”. If you import multiple plans with the same name, the app automatically renames them to ensure unique names.

You can reorder plans by dragging them in the sidebar list. Press and hold a plan, then drag it to its new position.

If a plan displays in the wrong orientation, you can rotate it from the plan options. The rotation applies to the plan display and annotations are repositioned accordingly.

The plan viewer lets you filter the annotations displayed:

  • By user — Show only annotations created by a specific team member. Useful in collaboration mode (Teams).
  • By date — Show only annotations created on a specific date or during a given period.

This lets you focus on the observations you care about, without being overwhelmed by all the plan’s annotations.
