Inspector on site, final report at the office
This scenario describes the typical workflow of a technical inspector or surveyor who carries out regular site visits and needs to produce a report after each one.
Before the visit
Section titled “Before the visit”- Create a project for the site (or open an existing one for a follow-up visit).
- Import the plans — PDFs from the engineering firm, or a photo of the site plan from the first visit.
- If it’s a follow-up, review annotations from previous visits to prepare the points to check.
During the visit
Section titled “During the visit”- Open the project on iPhone and switch to Visit mode.
- Walk the site methodically: for each observation, tap the plan, orient the arrow and take the photo.
- Use audio comments to dictate detailed remarks without stopping to type.
- For visual defects, use the draw on photo tool to circle or arrow the issue.
- For observations not tied to a plan (general condition, cleanliness, safety), use general observations.
After the visit
Section titled “After the visit”- Back at the office, open the web dashboard to review observations on a large screen.
- Check that nothing was missed by browsing the plans in the web viewer.
- Export the PDF report from the iOS app — the report automatically includes the company profile (logo, name, address) if configured.
- Share the report online with the client via a password-protected link, or send it as an email attachment.
What this gives you
Section titled “What this gives you”- Efficiency on site — Documenting a visit takes less time than with a notebook or spreadsheet. Audio replaces writing.
- Automatic professional report — The report is generated in one click, with annotated plans, photos and comments. No layout work needed.
- Tracking over time — Successive visits are documented in the same project, letting you compare site status from one visit to the next using date filters.
