Offline mode

Job sites rarely have coverage. A basement, a stairwell, a dead zone: the app keeps working and catches up on syncing when the connection returns.

What gets downloaded, and when

This split is deliberate: plans are essential on site and stay small, whereas the photos of a large project can run to several gigabytes.

Preparing a project before you leave

Open the project, then Project settings, under Offline availability.

Download now forces an immediate download of the plan files, without waiting for Wi-Fi. Useful just before leaving the office, even if it means using mobile data.
Full offline adds the project’s photos. This is the setting to turn on if you need to consult existing shots while on site.

The section shows progress, for example “42 of 57 files downloaded”, along with the space used and an inventory of the project: plans, viewpoints, photos, videos, audio.

If some files do not make it, the app tells you without turning the setting off: it will try again next time you open the project with a network.

On site, without a network

What works normally:

Opening downloaded projects and plans.
Creating and editing viewpoints.
Taking photos and videos, recording an audio comment.
Drawing on a photo.

Items that were not downloaded show a clear message rather than an error: “Project not available offline”, “Plan not available offline”. Reconnect once to retrieve them.

Some actions need a server and are disabled, marked Requires a connection. That covers creating a report, sharing a link and sending invitations.

When the network comes back

Syncing resumes on its own. There is nothing to trigger.

In the meantime, your changes carry the note Changes saved on this device, waiting to sync. They are not lost: they are waiting their turn.

Freeing up space

Delete downloaded files removes the photos cached on the device for this project.

Nothing is lost: the plans and all the data stay in place, and photos download again when you view them with a network.

What about iOS?

The iOS app also works offline, with a slightly different model, described in iCloud and local backup. The web dashboard, for its part, needs a connection.
