Plans
Plans are the reference documents on which you place your annotations. They can be architectural drawings, floor plans, site plans or any reference image.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”From within a project, the sidebar lists all imported plans under Project plans. Each row shows:
- A thumbnail of the plan.
- The plan name.
- The annotation count and photo count, under the name.
The rows look the same on iPhone and iPad. On iPhone, each row also carries a ⋯ button with the plan’s actions (see Organize your plans).
Above the plans, the Observations row opens the list of every annotation and general observation in the project (see Observations). It appears as soon as the project holds at least one.
Tap a plan to open it in the viewer, where you can zoom, place annotations and browse existing observations.
Accepted file types
Section titled “Accepted file types”- PDF: the recommended format. PhotoReport is specifically optimized to work with very high-definition PDF plans while staying smooth and responsive, even with large files. No need to compress your files before importing.
- Images (JPEG, PNG), You can also use a photo as a plan.
Organize your plans
Section titled “Organize your plans”Every plan has the same actions wherever you meet it: Open, Rename and Delete. Reach them from:
- The ⋯ button on a plan row on iPhone, or on a plan card in the iPad detail pane.
- A press and hold on the plan card or sidebar row, as a shortcut to the same menu.
On a project you can only view, these menus are not shown: tap a plan to open it.
Rename a plan
Section titled “Rename a plan”Choose Rename in the plan’s menu, or in the plan settings menu when the plan is open. Choose a clear name, for example “Ground floor”, “Floor 1” or “Roof”. If you import multiple plans with the same name, the app automatically renames them to ensure unique names.
Reorder plans
Section titled “Reorder plans”You can reorder plans by dragging them in the sidebar list: press and hold a plan, then, without lifting your finger, drag it to its new position.
Rotate a plan
Section titled “Rotate a plan”If a plan displays in the wrong orientation, choose Rotate to the left in the plan settings menu. The rotation applies to the plan display and annotations are repositioned accordingly.
Delete a plan
Section titled “Delete a plan”Choose Delete in the plan’s menu, or in the plan settings menu when the plan is open. The confirmation says what goes with it, for example “This also deletes 12 viewpoints and 48 photos.”
Deleting is not final. For a few seconds a Plan deleted bar offers Undo. After that, the plan and everything on it stay in Project settings > Recently deleted for 7 days, where anyone who can edit the project can restore them. See also Settings for deleted projects.
Plan settings
Section titled “Plan settings”When a plan is open, the settings button at the top right of the plan toolbar opens the plan’s own menu. Press and hold anywhere on the drawing (away from a marker) opens the same menu. It holds:
- Annotation size and Annotation default color for this plan (see Annotations).
- Rotate to the left.
- Rename.
- Reorder annotation numbers (see Reset numbering).
- Delete.
The plan toolbar also carries + to add a viewpoint (see Annotations), the list button that opens this plan’s Observations, and the filter button.
Filter annotations on a plan
Section titled “Filter annotations on a plan”The filter button in the plan toolbar lets you filter the annotations displayed:
- By day: show only annotations created on a given date.
- By author: show only annotations created by a specific team member. Useful in collaboration mode (Teams).
- By media type: show only annotations that contain photos, videos or audio comments.
- By color: show only annotations of a given color, custom colors included.
Each filter group has an “All / None” shortcut to tick or untick every option in a single tap.
