Photos and videos

This is what you have the phone in your hand for. The photo is taken in the app, attached to the viewpoint and sent to the cloud without you having to think about it.

Taking a photo

Open a viewpoint, or create one by tapping the plan.
Tap Take a photo.
Frame and shoot.

The photo is added to the viewpoint and its upload starts in the background. You can move straight on to the next one without waiting.

The first time, Android asks permission to use the camera. If you declined, re-enable it in PhotoReport’s Android settings.

Importing from the gallery

Add photos opens the phone’s picker. You can select several at once, which is handy when you have shot outside the app.

Videos

Add a video works the same way. The .mp4 format plays everywhere.

A video weighs far more than a photo. On a mobile connection, prefer waiting for Wi-Fi if the site has poor coverage.

GPS position

When location is allowed, PhotoReport records the coordinates at the moment you shoot. They then appear in the photo’s properties, with a View on map button.

This is useful to show a photo really was taken on site, particularly on large sites.

If you decline the permission, everything still works: photos are simply saved without a position, marked No location.

Viewing and organising

Tap a thumbnail to open it full screen, then swipe from one item to the next.

From that screen you can:

Rotate the photo by 90°. The rotation applies for every collaborator and carries into reports.
Draw on it. See Draw on a photo.
Check the properties: number and location.
Delete the item, after confirmation.

Uploads in progress

Each item shows its state: queued, uploading, failed. A failed upload offers Retry, and Retry all picks up the whole set.

Without a network, photos stay on the device marked pending sync and go out as soon as the connection returns. See Offline mode.

Audio comments

A voice recording follows different rules: one per viewpoint, five minutes maximum. See Audio comments.
